A basketball evening to remember – see you in February

1113 – that’s the number of entry tickets that were sold on Sunday for the game Luxembourg – Romania in the Coque. The atmosphere even left a big impression on our opponent Romania as head-coach Dragen Petricevic said after the game: „It was the first game with fans for us in a long time. The amazing atmosphere had a big impact for my team and we did not play well to start the game. I am satisfied because we won the game and because we were part of a great evening here in Luxembourg. »

The great atmosphere pushed our national team to play well during 40 minutes. Head coach Ken Diederich was proud about the performance of his team: „We were able to compete with Romania which is an excellent sign. We played well defensively, and I am proud about the performance of my team today. For basketball in Luxembourg, it was an amazing experience, especially because we were able to compete with a strong opponent over 40 minutes. We have built a culture over the last years and now we believe that we can win against nations like Romania, we will continue to build that mentality. » Captain Alex Laurent, who led the team with a great scoring night, added: „We came back from Albania after a tough loss and were able to show a reaction to start the game. We had 5 players in double digits which is a sign of our strong team play. I am proud that we were able to compete and show a great game overall. »

Unfortunately, our national team was not able to reward itself with a win this week but the 2 games have shown that we will continue to have a lot of fun with this team moving forward.

SAVE THE DATE

The next game of our men’s national team in the pre-qualification will be in February 2022, 3 more months to go! On February 27th, the team of coach Ken Diederich will host Albania at home, definitely another game that Luxembourg wants to win, especially in front of the home crowd.
