Surprise on Saturday-evening. Arantia Larochette has beaten leader Etzella, it was the first loss of the season for the team from Ettelbruck, the final score was 85:75.
Etzella’s offense has been on fire all season until Saturday when the team of coach Kresimir Basic scored a season-low 75 points while shooting only 30 percent from the floor and 22 percent from behind the arc.
Arantia had 3 players scoring more than 20 points with Johnson (24), Sturdivant (23) and DJ Wilson (20) and the team of Christophe Ney was able to continue the strong season with an exclamation win against one of the titel-favorites. Arantia made 50% of the shot-attempts including 10 out of 28 3-pointers but the key was their defense to keep Etzella to 75 points. It was Arantia’s 5th win in 7 games and they remain clearly on track of reaching the top 6 which would give the team from Larochette a chance to compete for the title later in the season.
