Big points for Zolwer / Amicale-women win in Esch

On Friday-evening, the first game of the women’s second round was played in Esch. The guests from Steinsel had the better start and had a 10-point lead early in the second quarter. However, Basket Esch reacted and reduced the deficit before the break (29:34). Amicale came out strong in the third quarter and built another double digit lead, the guests went on to win this game 79:59. Braydey Hodgins scored a game-high 33 points, Esmeralda Skrijelj added 18 points and 15 rebounds. Likhtarovich scored 29 points for Esch. In the standings, both teams are now tied with a record of 8 wins and 11 losses.

In the men’s National 2, the only game of the weekend was played on Friday-evening between 2 ambitious teams. Zolwer won the home game against Bascharage 83:67. With this win, the team of coach Carlo Ferrante improves its record to 11:6 and jumps to the 3rd place in the standings. Bascharage stays in front of the opponent in the standings with a 12:5 record in second place behind leader Gréngewald. On Friday, Bascharage played with a new non-JICL player (Andre Mark Kennedy) who scored a team-high 19 points in his debut. Jenkins (game-high 27 points) and Council (23) combined for 50 points while Gilles Weis had a big game with 20 points for Zolwer.
