Big points for Zolwer / Mamer shocks Kordall

A full game day was played in the men’s National 2 on Saturday-evening.

The Hedgehogs Bascharage and Black Star Mersch were both in action for the first time this year and the game was very intense as the hosts used a strong fourth quarter (26:12) to win the game, the final score was 90:82. Playing without professional player Logins, Aziz Ndiaye scored 33 points to lead Bascharage, Scott Morton added 22 while Steve Kuhlmann (15) and Vincent Welter (10) were also in double digits as the team improves its record to 11:4 and stays second in the rankings. Black Star was led by Gordon’s 35 points, the team now has a 3:12 record and is second last in the league standings.

AS Zolwer earned big points by beating Mondorf 63:51, the team of coach Carlo Ferrante now has a better record (9:6) than the opponent (9:7) in the standings. Jenkins (23) and Council (18) led the road team to this key victory while Small scored 25 points for Mondorf that played without their JICL top scorer Bartholomey.

League leader Gréngewald stays on top of the secon division with a 14:2 record after beating BC Mess in a hard fought game behind 10 made shots from behind the arc. After 40 minutes, the greens won 85:78. Barnes and Janssen both scored 26 points and Henkel added 16 points for Gréngewald to overcome 30 points by Coleman. BC Mess (6:10) will need its focus to stay in the league, they have the advantage over Black Star and Mamer at the moment.

A big surprise comes from the game Kordall SteelersMamer where the guests stormed back to grab a 93:90 win. Bedirhanoglu scored 41 points while McDaniel added 24 and Hoffmann 19 as the bottom team in the league sets an exclamation mark even if the situation remains very difficult with a 2:14 record. Kordall had 5 players in double digits as new professional player Alexander Hobbs, who played instead of league leading scorer Barkley in this game, led his team with 30 points. In the promotion race, this is clearly a big setback for Kordall.
