On Saturday afternoon, the first semi final of the Loterie Nationale Coupe de Luxembourg was played at the Coque in Kirchberg. In front of 1700 spectators (sold out crowd), Etzella Ettelbruck was able to advance to the cup final.
Amicale Steinsel – Etzella Ettelbruck 62:87
– Amicale had a strong start and led 9:0, but Etzella found its rhythm in the second quarter and led 46:36 at the break
– Philippe Gutenkauf (4) and Yann Wolff (3) combined for 7 threes in the second quarter to help Etzella create a lead
– Etzella kept making shots and extended the lead in the third quarter and finally cruised to a clear victory
– Philippe Gutenkauf had an outstanding night with 27 points
On Sunday, Basket Esch and Arantia Larochette competed in the second semi final. A total of 1600 visitors were at the Coque in Kirchberg on Sunday.
Arantia Larochette – Basket Esch 88:91
– Esch had to play without Clancy Rugg, but had a strong start into the game and led by 10+ points in the middle of the second quarter
– Arantia reduced the deficit to 6 points at the break (40:46)
– After the score was tied in the third quarter, Esch hadthe better fourth quarter and managed to win a very intense game behind a balanced team effort with 5 players in double digits
– Quinten Nelson scored 23 points while Thomas Grün had a big double double with 17 points and 17 rebounds
