The women’s and men’s LBBL is in action on Friday and Saturday.
In the men’s league (game day 16), Sparta Bertrange will host league leader Amicale Steinsel on Friday evening in the first game after the departure of coach Christophe Flammang who left the team on Monday. Steinsel leads the league but lost the first game of the year 2024 in Ettelbruck, the team of coach Daniel Brandao wants to open the win column for this year on the road. This game will be played at CENTRE ATERT as the club announced, the gym has not been available since July 2021 after a heavy flood.
On Saturday, 5 games will be played. The play-off race remains the main focus for the most teams. If the three bottom teams Kordall (4:11), Musel Pikes (3:12) and Gréngewald (3:12) want to make a push at place 8, they need a winning streak over the next weeks. Arantia and Résidence (both have a 9:6 record) are in an excellent position to qualify sooner or later. Sparta (6:9), Contern (6:8) and Mamer (6:8) are fighting for places 7-9 at this moment.

In the women’s LBBL (game day 14), Sparta will face Contern on Friday evening, a game between the number 3 and 4 seed in the standings. The 6 play-off teams are knowsn since last week but that does not change the fact that teams will try to earn points to have a chance at qualifying for the semi-finals later in the season.
On Saturday, the unbeaten leader Gréngewald (13:0) faces the winless team Zolwer (0:12) in a game that looks one-sided on paper. Wiltz and Amicale are tied in the standings and will fight for places 4-6 with Contern over the next weeks.
