Ken Diederich reacts to Luxembourg’s comeback victory

After Luxembourg’s sensational 76:72 comeback victory on Thursday , national team head coach Ken Diederich shares his thoughts about the game:

„I am extremely proud of the team’s performance, I can not remember a game in the national team where we were able to have such a comeback. We were down 23 points in the third quarter and could not make a shot (0/18 threes to start the game), but the boys reacted with a lof of heart. We had to make some changes in the third quarter, we went to a zone defense and I made some player changes that worked out for us. Romania had problems against our zone defense and they became nervous when we started to come closer. We could have won the game in regulation, but finally were able to win after overtime. It was a special victory that we will clearly for a long time to come. »

Diederich talked about the generational change within the national team before this pre-qualifiers started and it became obvious in this first game that some players are ready to step up. „We have to give credit to Max (Logelin) and Malcolm (Kreps), both players were phenomenal and helped us win this game. Together with Ben (Kovac), both players carried the load to turn this game around. This shows that we have a new generation of players that will be ready to help our national team in the future. »
