Kordall Steelers lead the way before the restart

The men’s National 2 is entering its decisive phase in the regular season with the restart on January 7th. The main question will be which 6 teams will enter the play-offs. The standings already give a clear indication … league leader Kordall Steelers is the main candidate to promote to the LBBL at this point of the season. With an impressive 10:1 record, the team of coach Tara Booker has underlined its ambitions through the first months of the season. A positive surprise has been Black Star Mersch as the team of coach Rainer Kloss is second in the league standings at the moment. Other teams with high ambitions are following in the standings: Avanti Mondorf played the relegation-series against AB Contern last season, Mambra Mamer also has the goal of promoting to the highest league in Luxembourg while Racing Luxembourg and the Hedgehogs Bascharage are also looking to make some noise in the upcoming play-offs. Until the start of the play-offs, every point will be important to have a better starting position.
Wiltz, BC Mess and Schieren are the three bottom teams in the standings at the moment and it looks like those 3 clubs will enter the play-down. However, the clubs should not fear this round as the league will be extended to 10 teams on the 2023/24 season and the two opponents from the National 3 are not playing on a comparable level with the team from the second league.

This weekend, all 4 games will be played on Saturday evening.
On Saturday:
18:30 Black Star Mersch – Mambra Mamer
18:30 Hedgehogs Bascharage – Racing Luxembourg
20:00 Avanti Mondorf – BC Mess
20:00 Les Sangliers Wiltz – Kordall Steelers

The standings:

The game mode:

–> 2 teams will promote to the LBBL after the play-offs, the 3rd placed team will play a best-of-3 series against the 3rd last team from the LBBL.

–> In the « PLAYDOWN » the bottom 3 teams from the second league will play against the top 2 teams from the National 3 (8 games for each team, points set to zero). The top 4 teams of that group will play in the National 2 in the season 2023/24 which means that 10 teams will compete in the men’s second league in the 2023/24 season.
