This weekend, the 9th game day is scheduled in the men’s LBBL. While the women’s league is on pause because of the national team, the men will play 3 more games (one this week and a double game day next weekend) before they go on a break.
After most of the team were in action during the week in the cup competition, the focus shifts back to the championship. The Musel Pikes were eliminated from the cup competition during the week and they now face Amicale in an extremely important game between two teams that are on the bottom of the standings. A win is needed by both teams as they have the same record (1:7) so far. The loser of this game will be in a very difficult position moving forward.
Racing (2:6) also wants to leave the bottom of the standings, they face Heffingen (5:3), a team has been playing well this season so far and the team of coach Daniel Brandao could make a big step towards the play-offs with a win.
After a hard fought win against N2-team Bascharage, Arantia (5:3) faces Contern (3:5) in a duell between 2 play-off-teams from last season. Contern could come close to the opponent in the standings with a win but on the other hand, Arantia hasd the chance to take a 3-point lead over the visiting team.
Basket Esch played well during the week and advanced in the cup competition. Now, the team wants to improve its 6:2 record against T71, a team that has struggled so far and in addition was thrown out of the cup during the week.
League leader Sparta (7:1) is looking for an 8th straight win in the top game against Résidence (6:2). This schould be a very interesting game to watch between 2 teams that have been playing very well this season – clearly the top game of the week.
Etzella (6:2) and Telstar (3:5) have won their cup game during the week, they face each other on Sunday in Ettelbruck. The team from Hesperange has won 2 games in a row (championship and cup game) after losing 5 straight, the team of coach Gabor Boros has shown that they can be dangerous for any opponent if they play well and hit outside shots.
