Luxembourg beats Cyprus and enters semi-finals (game stats and video-highlights)

Second game, second win for our women’s national team at the European Championship for small countries! Luxembourg was able to beat Cyrpus on Thursday-evening, the final score was 90:60. With this win, the FLBB-squad is in the semi-finals and will face the second placed team from the other group, Malta, on Saturday at 19:00 (save the date).

Starting 5: Mreches, Mossong, Meynadier, Vujakovic, Jablonowski

First half:
10 players received playing time in the first half for team Luxembourg and therefore the team was once again able to play at a high pace. 22 points in the first quarter and 28 points in the second quarter, Luxembourg did not let Cyprus take a break Jablonowski and Simon were the driving forces for the FLBB-squad inthe first half. With a 3-pointer just before the half, Julija Vujakovic gave Luxembourg a 13-point lead going into the locker rooms (50:37).

Second half:
Luxembourg did not allow Cyprus to get back into the game and increased the lead in a convincing way. Another 25 points scored in the third quarter were enough to decide the game early. Nadia Mossong and Estelle Muller provided a big spark in the third quarter while the team played in a very collective way once again.

All 12 players were in action for Luxembourg, 5 players scored in double digits and the team had 20 assists. Mossong and Simon led the FLBB-squad with 17 points, Luxembourg also made 15/16 free-throws.
