The FLBB is proud to announce that Luxembourg has officially submitted its bid to FIBA Europe to co-host the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2029.
Joining formal candidacies from Finland and Switzerland, Luxembourg is one of three National Federations positioning themselves to host Europe’s biggest women’s basketball tournament. In fact, Luxembourg has submitted a bid to hist a group stage.
The FIBA Europe Board is scheduled to decide on the hosts of Europe’s flagship event in its spring meeting on March 27th in Rome (Italy).
Statement by FLBB president Max Krippler:
„Hosting this flagship women’s basketball event would be a major honor and challenge at the same time. Being a small country is no reason not have big plans. After the successful U16 women’s group stage in Bertrange, we are willing to offer the stage for the highest level of European competition. Co-hosting the event would also align with our ongoing efforts to support women’s sports. Furthermore, 2029 offers a great timeline for our talented team. »
