On Thursday evening, our men’s Senior national team played the fifth game of the 2029 Eurobasket pre-qualifiers. At the Coque in Kirchberg, Luxembourg lost a close game, the final score was 74:76 in front of 1250 fans.
Luxembourg trailed 18:22 after the first quarter but was able to take the lead with a stronger second quarter to enter the break on a 42:39 lead. After a balanced second half, Luxembourg trailed by 3 points with 9 seconds remaining. Dorian Grosber hit 2 free throws to cut the deficit to 1 point. A controversial play decided the game in the final seconds as Clancy Rugg was called for an offensive foul (screen) at half court on the last possession of the FLBB squad.
Ben Kovac led Luxembourg with 15 points. Dorian Grosber (11), Philippe Gutenkauf (11) and Max Logelin (10) added double digit scoring.

North Macedonia, Luxembourg’s opponent on Sunday, clinched the group victory on Thursday. Luxembourg can only qualify as the best runner up of group A, this decision will fall on Sunday.
