Mersch, Schieren and Mondorf grab wins

In the men’s National 2 play-offs, game day 6 out 10 was played this week.

Avanti Mondorf continues to put pressure on Black Star Mersch and the Black Frogs Schieren. The team of coach Bob Adam was able to beat US Heffingen 84:77 on Saturday. Without their injured leading scorer and rebounder Jonathan Janssen, who will continue his career in Australia soon, Heffingen fell behind in the second quarter (8:25). Jackson Meshanic led Mondorf with 31 points, Mondorf overcame a game-high 33 points by Heffingen’s only professional player, Taeshon Cherry.

Black Star Mersch cruised to an 81:65 victory over Racing Luxembourg. Jeremiah Culver led the team with 27 points while Sam Ferreira added a double double (14 points, 12 rebounds).

On Thursday, the Black Frogs Schieren won 89:77 against AS Zolwer behind 28 points each by Desean Hampton and Joshua Reynolds. Schieren overcame a game-high 39 points by Tylik Evans.
