Game day 1 of the National 2 play-offs is on the schedule from Friday until Sunday.
On Friday evening, Avanti Mondorf was able to beat first seed Heffingen at the buzzer (82:81) on a shot by Joseph Reuter, take a look at the video posted by the club on social media. Reuter led Mondorf with 34 points and 14 rebounds as the home team knocked down 12 threes to come up with the surprising victory to start the play-offs.
With this victory, Mondorf improves to a 12:9 record while Heffingen’s record drops to 17:4 which is still a league best but Gréngewald is now tied after a 86:80 victory in Mersch on Saturday evening. Aidan Reichert led the guests with 31 points as Gréngewald keeps its impressive winning streak alive.
On Sunday, AS Zolwer won 80:72 at home against the Black Frogs Schieren, a key victory in the race for the top spots. Christian Parker led Zolwer with 25 points while Gilles Weis added 22 to help Zolwer improve to 16:5 and take the third place in the standings only trailing the leading duo Heffingen/Gréngewald by a single point.
