Racing beats Mamer on late 3-point shot

Game day 9 was on the schedule in the men’s National 2 this weekend.

In the game between the two promoted teams Wiltz and Schieren, the hosts were able to win 81:72 and grab their second win of the season (2:7) while Schieren has a 1:8 record and is on the bottom of the standings. Jones (23 points), Landman (22) and Sarlette (20) combined for 65 points to lead Wiltz to this victory at home.

League leader Kordall Steelers improved its record to 8:1 with a clear 107:71 win over BC Mess. Spencer Scott scored a personal season-high 45 points and finished with a triple double as he added 15 rebounds and 11 assists. BC Mess has a 2:7 record and has already lost contact to a spot in the play-offs (top 6 after two rounds).

Black Star Mersch managed to tie with opponent Avanti Mondorf in the standings. Both teams have a 6:3 record after 9 games after Mersch beat the direct opponent 85:71 on Saturday. League leading scorer Tylik Evans scored a game-high 38 points. (Scoring lists after round one –> Lukic and Evans lead National 2 scoring list after round one ).

The most thrilling game was played on Sunday as Racing Luxembourg came up with a nailbiting 78:77 win on the road against Mambra Mamer. Matt Weir hit the decisive 3-point shot at the end with 0.3 seconds remaining as Racing overcame a game-high 30 points by Dakota Zinser. In the standings, Racing moves up and has a positive record (5:4) after this game while Mamer’s record drops to 6:3, tied with Black Star and Mondorf.
