Racing beats Mersch, Schieren takes down Zolwer

The first game day of the men’s National 2 season was played this weekend.

Racing Luxembourg was able to grab a very important win on the road against Black Star Mersch, the final score was 59.62 in favor of the guests. Mersch had a last possession but could not get a shot up to try and tie the game. Eddie Davis led Racing with 22 points while Max Hilger added 12 to overcome a game-high 27 points by Mersch’s Jeremiah Culver.

League favorite US Heffingen had a dominating start into the season, the guests won 99:51 on the road against the promoted team Telstar Hesper, a team that has not added professional players to its roster. Heffingen scored 32 points in the opening quarter to decide the game early. 4 Heffingen-players scored 14+ points, Jonathan Janssen led the team with 20 points.

BC Mess earned a victory by beating the Hedgehogs Baschrage 75:62. Both professional players of Mess, Ky Howard (35 points) and Jeffrey Perkins (29) combined for 64 points, 2 more points than the opponent had as a team.

On Sunday, the Black Frogs Schieren won a close game on the road in Zolwer, the final score was 85:83 in favor of the team of coach Nigel Tolentino. A strong fourth quarter (29:16) helped Schieren turn the game around. Francis Kneip scored a team-high 24 points.

Avanti Mondorf did not play this weekend.
