Recap of the FLBB`s skills challenge (part 1)

The FLBB skills challenge for Minis and Fillettes started on Saturday.

20 teams have registered for this competition and will compete on 4 weekends in different athletic and basketball skills.

On the first Saturday, the teams have competed in two separate tournaments:

Tournament 2:

Etzella Boys
Grengewald Girls A

Racing Girls
T71 Boys B
T71 Boys C

The players are in their gym with their coach competing in basketball drills against another team via « zoom », with the respect of all COVID-19 recommendations and measures. Even though it is far from regular Basketball competition, the kids are all happy to be back in the gym competing.

While Mamer Minis (A&C) could win the tournaments, the second places went to the Minis teams from Racing and Dudelange (T71 team C). The boys from Amicale Steinsel finished 3rd in tournament 1, while the only girls‘ team qualified for the semi-finals came from BBC Grengewald. The Grengewald Girls (B) finished on the 3rd place of tournament 2.

The main goal of this initiative is to give the young players an additional motivation and goal to work on their individual skills. The first day has been a good experience for all people involved, thanks also to the help of all the clubs’ coaches with the organisation. It was nice to see the young players again in the gym and see them playing with a lot of passion and fun.

The next challenge will take place next Saturday (January 30th) with new drills for the players.
