T71 wins opening game in Namur

On Thursday evening, T71 Dudelange played the first game of the EuroCup group phase in Belgium. The team from Luxembourg played extremely well and was able to win the game 72:60.

The team from Luxembourg had a fantastic start into the game took an early 10-point lead. Namur reacted and tied the game but T71 built a small lead at the end of the first quarter (22:16). In the second quarter, Shalonda Winton (14 points in the first half) took over and when Mossong and Mreches knocked down long range shots, the LBBL champion started to increase the lead. At the break, Dudelange led 40:20. Most of the time, it were the fans of Dudelange that made the noise in the arena in Namur.
The hosts showed a reaction after the break reduced the deficit. However, T71 was able to keep a 13-point lead (56:43) entering the final quarter of the game. T71 managed to react after another run by Namur in the final quarter and finally was able to win this opening game of the competition on the road.

All T71-starters scored at leats 8 points, Shalonda Winton led the team with 25 points while Mandy Geniets (14) and Catherine Mreches (11) scored in double digits as well. Faith Ehi Etute had 9 points and 11 rebounds .
