On Friday-evening, the second game of the best-of-3 finals series in the men’s Total League was played. T71 won this game on the road and therefore wins the series 2:0 and is the new champion in the men’s Total League! After their women team won the championship a few weeks ago, the men team complete the « double » in the 2020/21 season.
Basket Esch – T71 71:82
– Harris (12 points), Schumacher (10) and Hoeser (10 of the bench) sparked T71 in the first half, they led 42:35 at the break
– Esch was unlucky with its shots (1/8 three-pointers, some missed layups) but they only trailed by 7 points after 20 minutes
– In the third quarter, T71 led by as many as 15 points and led 63:50 after 3 quarters
– Esch started the final quarter with a big run and reduced the deficit to 8 points with 8 minutes remaining and the game regained some energy
– Esch came as close as 2 points with 2 minutes remaining and the game was absolutely thrilling in the end
– Esch was not able to hit decisive shots in the final minute and T71 wdecided the game on the free-throw-line
– Ivey led T71 with 23 points while Hoeser had a great game of the bench with 16 points
With this victory, Tom Schumacher and Frank Muller can end their career with a title! It was also the last game of coach Ken Diederich in Dudelange.
