Interview with Tatsiana Likhtarovich: Esch is not the underdog

Tatsiana Likhtarovich has been playing in Esch for the last 3 seasons. The national team player of Belarus is one of the most spectacular players in the league, especially her passing abilities make her difficult to guard. She is averaging 22.8 points (8th in the league), 4.9 assists (3rd in the league) and 6.2 rebounds. This Saturday, Esch (7th seed) will start its play-off series against Résidence Walfer (2nd seed).

You enter the play-offs as the number 7 seed, are you satisfied with how the season has been going so far?
This season has been very difficult for us, we lost one of our main players with a knee injury early. After that we were strangled with Covid, as a result, Billie (Schulte) will not be able to play until the end of the season, which also affects our team a lot. But, the rest of the girls made a big step-up, especially the young ones and our coach (Vincent Gevrey) found the right game plan for all of us, so we will see.

Do you consider yourself the underdog against Résidence, the current cup winner?
Definitely no, Résidence is a good team but we will make sure that we will fight until the end and those games will be interesting to watch.

You have been playing on a very high international level before arriving to Luxembourg, what are your impressions about the LBBL?
I’m playing over here already for the third year and I got used the style of basketball over the time. I can say that the young generation is working hard and I see high progress in the league overall.

What do you like about the country and life-style in Luxembourg?
I love Luxembourg’s nature and the people that surround me, they are making me feel like I’m at home which is the most important for me 😊
