U16 boys start European Championship on Friday

Our U16 boys are on their way to the European Championship (Division B) in Pitesti (Romania) that will be played from August 4th until August 13th.

Preparation

During this season, our U16 boys had the opportunity to participate in several friendly games against teams from various European countries. Notably, our U16 team played against a U18 selection from Wales and also took part in the two stages of the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL), where our U16 team performed exceptionally well and won all of their games.

Two weeks ago, our U16 team competed in the Youth Trophy in Mersch, where they faced off against the U16 National teams of Great Britain, Ireland, and the Netherlands. They managed to secure the 2nd place position winning two of the 3 games. As part of our final preparations, our U16 team had two games against the U16 team of Austria last weekend. The outcome was balanced, with each team winning one game.

These experiences and games have helped our U16 team grow and become better prepared for the challenges ahead.

Preview

Coaching Staff: “This is the first European championship for most of our players. Paying attention to details will be extremely important, as they can often determine the outcome of the games. Throughout this year, the team has made significant improvements and played with great energy and determination. Transferring this mindset to the championship will be crucial for us to be competitive in these games.”

Captain: “We’re excited to participate in the European Championship and aim to perform really well. Even though we have a smaller team than others, we know that focusing on our defense and rebounding is crucial. Our advantage lies in being faster than other teams, and we’ll use our speed and aggression to secure victories. We plan to use the lessons we learned from previous matches. If every player gives their best, we’re confident that we can achieve success in the championship.”
