Our U18 girls played the semi final of the European Championship (Division B) on Saturday evening. After a comeback in the second half and another thriller in the final minutes, Luxembourg was able to win the game and enter the finals! It was the fifth straight win in the tournament for the FLBB squad, what a performance! Lucembourg will play in Division A in the next tournament – congratulations to the team and staff.
After a balanced start into the game, Bosnia and Herzegovina took control ofm the game and led 37:24 at the break. Once again, Luxembourg fought back into the game and took the lead (43:42) in the middle of the third quarter. In the final quarter, Luxembourg kept playing at a fast pace and Ehi Etute could simply not be stopped by the opponent. The opponent had a last chance to win the game but could not make a shot and Luxembourg’s ladies started celebrating!
Ehi Etute scored 33 points and added 19 rebounds, Isa Hamalainen added 18 points for Luxembourg.
It was the fifth straight of the competition for the FLBB squad, the young team is playing an outstanding tournament behind incredible performances by Ehi Etute, the JICL MVP of the women’s LBBL is clearly the favorite to win the tournament MVP award. Luxembourg is showing an enormous fighting spirit in this competition, the team was able to storm back multiple times after being down by double digits, once again in this semi final game.
