Cathy Schmit tears achilles which may end her long career

Shock for Cathy Schmit, her team Musel Pikes and also the entire women’s league as the ex national team player got the confirmation that she tore her achilles in the cup game on Wednesday evening against Amicale Steinsel. On a non contact play, Schmit drove to the basket and suffered the serious injury. As the 31-year old guard entered the season with the thought that it might be her last in the LBBL, this injury is (probably) the end of her career in the highest league as she confirmed on Thursday.

Cathy Schmit was 3rdin the JICL MVP race this season ( –> Women’s JICL MVP race presented by Lalux ) and has been one of the best players in the country for many years. We wish her a quick recovery!

According to the official stats, Schmit appeared in 354 games over 13 seasons, all with the Musel Pikes.
