On Monday evening, our Senior men’s national team was in action in the FIBA 2029 Eurobasket pre-qualifiers. On the road in Ireland, Luxembourg played the fourth game of the competition.
After Friday’s loss against North Macedonia, Luxembourg lost the second game in 4 days and has a balanced 2:2 record in group A, the final score was 85:91.
In a balanced first half, Clancy Rugg scored 13 points to keep Luxembourg in the game, the guests trailed 35:39 heading into halftime. Ireland kept extending the lead to 58:44 in the middle of the third quarter. Luxembourg reacted with a 9:0 run to stay in the game. In the final quarter, Luxembourg tried to fight back in the game but Ireland always stayed ahead by at least 5 points and finally won an intense battle. The FLBB squad was able to win the direct comparison after winning the first game against Ireland by 12 points.
Clancy Rugg (23 points, 11 rebounds) had a strong game for Luxembourg, Philippe Gutenkauf and Ben Kovac scored in double digits.
