The qualification system
A total of 38 national teams have registered to take part in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers, which will be split into two stages – First Round and Second Round, each played across two windows.
First Round
Window 1: November 9-19, 2025
Window 2: March 8-18, 2026
–> 27 national teams will begin their qualification journey in the first round, which will be played in November 2025 and March 2026.
Teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams and one group of three teams – and will play in a round-robin format. Each window will consist of three gamedays each.
The teams participating in the First Round are as follows: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine.
The winners and runners-up of each group, as well as the three best-ranked third-placed teams – 17 teams in total – will progress to the Second Round.
Second Round
Window 3: November 8-18, 2026
Window 4: February 7-17, 2027
–> The second round lineup will consist of 24 teams: 17 teams from the First Round and seven teams from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments – Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain and Türkiye.
A draw will be held before the start of the Second Round and the teams will be split into six groups of four teams each, once again playing in a round-robin format in November 2026 and February 2027.
Each window will consist of three gamedays each.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 via the Qualifiers, joining the four automatically qualified hosts.
The four EuroBasket 2027 co-hosts – Belgium, Finland, Lithuania and Sweden – are already qualified for the tournament.
