De Rui Nunes proposéiert e Modus mat 4 Ligen

De Rui Nunes vun der Arantia Fiels proposéiert an der Diskussioun em e neie Spillmodus eng Variant mat 4 Ligen, deemno enger Nationale 1, Nationale 2, Nationale 3 an Nationale 4. Dobäi géifen d’B-Ekippen d’Méiglechkeet kréien, an dësen Ligen aktiv ze sinn.

Et ass just eng Fro vun der Zäit bis si an dëser Liga mathalen kennen. D’Zil muss et sinn Spiller wéider zu entwéckelen, mat dëser Iddi géif een deene Spiller eng Chance ginn.“

*East-Sides Pirates are not interested unless all the teams only play with one professional player…unfortunately that will never happen
** Arantia B, Etzella B and Musel Pikes B finished ahead of Sparta B. But due to their young talent, it would make more sense for such a B-team to play in the N2 to develop their young players. Sparta (Christophe Flammang) confirmed their interest.

NEW MODUS

If 3 teams are added to TL for the 20/21 season, then the same argument can be made for N2.

Since the East Side Pirates are not interested in playing in the N2 then the following 2 teams would be Nitia and Schieren.

The possibility of B-teams playing up to the second league already exists in numerous countries. If a B-Team plays in N2 then the A-team has to play in a different day. This is the best solution for clubs to develop their (young) players. Although Sparta B finished in 4th place in the former Div 1, it would make perfect sense for them to have that young B-team play in the N2.

Advantages

• 12 teams in TL and Playoff round (1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5) →more attractive format

• Wildcard (Sparta B) will allow N2 to keep 10 teams
→more attractive format with the possibility that even a third team can move up

  • Former N3 teams have more games. They also have different and possibly better competition than in the past where they often played against the same teams every year.
  • If a Club has a new men’s team, that team will start in N4.
  • B-teams have the chance to play against A-teams and move up to N2 but can not move up toTotal League.

A- and B-teams can not play in N2 in the same season.

B-teams are also not allowed to to play in the Playoffs of N2.
Every player in a B-Team (that plays N2) must have played for at least 3 seasons for the Club. This is to avoid transfers to reinforce that B-team. The goal is to develop the players (that are not part of the top 5 from the A-Team) and youth players.

• Coupe FLBB
→N3 and N4-teams → more games and better competition

Concerns:

The level of N2?

Only 5 players are allowed to play for their A-team. If a B-team plays in the N2 then this would allow the B-team to possibly play their players 6-12 in the rotation and add further young players. Even without Non-Jicl Players, such a team should be able to compete in N2. The main goal remains to develop the players.

If some teams are really concerned about the level and are convinced that a B-team and other 2 new teams are not good enough, then those teams can play with 2 or even 1 Non-Jicl Player next season and have no fear to relegate to N3. Most of the teams (even in the Playdowns N2) have had 3 Non- Jicl Players) in the past, maybe they could use those resources and minutes for their (young) players and program which makes more sense in the long term.

B-team rosters

Those rosters must be filled with players that have been with that Club for at least 3 years. In this case it makes no sense to make a transfer and have that transfer play B-team. Due to the fact that they play in a different day, it should avoid that players sit on the bench for the A-team or play limited minutes instead of playing in the N2 game in which they have a bigger role.

B-teams already play in other countries’ second league like for example in Germany (Pro B), Portugal (Proliga), Belgium (Top Division I) or Denmark (Div. 1) where the main focus is to develop players.

This also represents a chance for other Clubs to recruit players. In case those players (from B-teams) can’t make the A-team of their Club after playing for the B-team, they might be interested in moving and make a transfer to another A-team. There will more local players available to play for men’s teams in general. At the moment too many kids stop playing after the ‘Cadets’-Category. This could be an idea to help these kids develop in their rhythm and find a solution for the gap and difference of level that exits between youth categories and TL.
